حروف الجر المربكة

حروف الجر لا تتطابق بين اللغات تقريبًا أبدًا، ولهذا تولّد الترجمة الحرفية أخطاء تدوم سنوات. وهذه هي التي يستحق أن تبدؤوا بها.

فعل + حرف جر

هذه التراكيب ثابتة. لا منطق فيها — تعلّموها وحدة واحدة.

وانتبهوا إلى الأفعال التي لا تتطلب حرف جر في الإنجليزية، مع أن مقابلها العربي يتطلبه:

• ✅ I'll phone you. (لا «phone to you» — من «أتصل بك»)
• ✅ Let's discuss the budget. (لا «discuss about» — من «نتناقش حول»)
• ✅ She entered the room. (لا «entered in/into» — من «دخلت إلى الغرفة»)
• ✅ I married him. (لا «married with» — من «تزوجتُ منه»)
• ✅ It affects the result. (لا «affects on» — من «يؤثر على»)

صفة + حرف جر

• interested in, good at, afraid of, proud of
• responsible for, similar to, different from
• worried about, keen on, aware of, capable of
• married to, famous for, dependent on

She's good at maths and interested in physics.

اسم + حرف جر

للأسماء حروف جر ثابتة خاصة بها، وتظهر في الكتابة باستمرار.

استثناء يستحق الحفظ: at night، لكن in the morning / afternoon / evening.

أزواج يُخلط بينها

• for + المدة / during + الحدث: for two hours · during the meeting
• by — في موعد لا يتجاوز / until — حتى لحظة معينة: Finish it by Friday (موعد نهائي) · Wait until Friday (طوال الوقت حتى)
• since + نقطة البداية / from … to للفترة: since 2016 · from nine to five
• in + فترة مستقبلية: I'll be back in ten minutes. (لا «after ten minutes» — من «بعد عشر دقائق»)

المكان: in وon وat

• in — داخل شيء: in the box, in London
• on — على سطح: on the table, on the wall
• at — في نقطة أو في حدث: at the bus stop, at the meeting

I'll meet you at the station, on platform 3, in the waiting room.

الحركة والموضع

الحركة تتطلب عادةً to أو into أو onto؛ والموضع in أو at أو on.

• I went to the office. / I was at the office.
• She walked into the room. / She was in the room.

فعلان يخرجان عن القاعدة: arrive يأخذ at/in وليس to أبدًا، وget يأخذ to — I arrived at the airport · I got to the airport.

المواصلات

by للطريقة، وon / in لوسيلة نقل محددة:

• by car, by train, by bus, by plane — لكن on the train وin the car وon foot (لا «by foot» أبدًا).

هذه مفردات لا قواعد. لا قاعدة تولّد depend on أو a solution to — حرف الجر جزء من الكلمة نفسها. تعلّموا القطعة كاملة: لا reason بل reason for — فتختفي الأخطاء.

حروف الجر في حوار قصير واحد

A: What time do you arrive in London?

B: At half past six, if the train's on time. I'll wait for you at the barrier.

A: I might be late — it depends on the traffic.

B: No problem. I'll be there until seven anyway.

Arrive in مدينة، وat وقت دقيق، وwait for شخص، وdepend on ظرف، وuntil الفترة كلها — خمسة تراكيب مختلفة في أربع جمل.
