C2-এ, ব্যাকরণের ভুল বিরল কিন্তু শেষ হয়নি। যা থেকে যায় তা হলো সেই কাঠামো যেগুলো এত কম ব্যবহৃত হয় যে কখনো স্বয়ংক্রিয় হয় না — আর ছোট ভুলগুলো যেগুলো চাপে বেরিয়ে আসে।

কিছু বিশেষ ক্রিয়ার পরে Subjunctive

দাবি, পরামর্শ আর প্রয়োজন বোঝানো ক্রিয়া ও বিশেষণের পরে, ইংরেজি bare infinitive ব্যবহার করে — কোনো -s নেই, কোনো to নেই।

• It is essential that every applicant submit the form personally. ("submits" নয়)
• The committee recommended that he be reinstated. ("is" নয়)
• She insisted that the meeting start on time. ("starts" নয়)

ট্রিগারগুলো: essential, vital, crucial, important + that; recommend, suggest, insist, demand, propose, require + that।

অনেক শিক্ষার্থীর কাছে এটি ভুল লাগে কারণ এটি একটি হারিয়ে যাওয়া -s-এর মতো দেখায়। তা নয় — এটি একটি টিকে থাকা subjunctive।

ব্রিটিশ ইংরেজি প্রায়ই সেই জায়গায় should পছন্দ করে: The committee recommended that he should be reinstated. দুটোই সঠিক; bare রূপটি মার্কিন আর আনুষ্ঠানিক আন্তর্জাতিক ইংরেজিতে বেশি সাধারণ।

দ্বিতীয় টিকে থাকা subjunctive: were

• If I were you… · She acts as though she were in charge.
• Were the decision mine, I'd delay it. (উল্টানো, আনুষ্ঠানিক)
• Were it not for the funding, the project would have stopped.

নেতিবাচক ক্রিয়া-বিশেষণের পরে inversion

যখন কোনো নেতিবাচক বা সীমিত করা ক্রিয়া-বিশেষণ বাক্য খোলে, তখন কর্তা আর সহায়ক ক্রিয়া জায়গা বদলায়।

• Not only did he meet the deadline, but he also improved the design.
• Rarely have I seen such a well-argued proposal.
• Under no circumstances should you share the password.
• No sooner had we arrived than it started raining.
• Only after the audit did they admit the error.
• Not until Friday will we know the outcome.

ট্রিগার: not only, rarely, seldom, never, little, no sooner, under no circumstances, only after, not until।

inversion ছাড়া এগুলো চ্যাপ্টা বা ভুল শোনায়: Not only he met the deadline একটি স্পষ্ট ভুল।

দুটি প্রতিবেশীও একই যন্ত্র ব্যবহার করে। So আর such সামনে এলে উল্টায় — So rare was the fault that nobody had documented it — আর neither / nor নিজে নিজেই উল্টায়: I didn't know, and neither did she.

Inversion একটি সুরের সংকেত, সাজসজ্জা নয়। এটি লেখাকে আনুষ্ঠানিক, ভাবনাপূর্ণ আর একটু জোরালো হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করে। সহজ কথাবার্তায় এটি নাটকীয় লাগে — Rarely have I seen such a mess রান্নাঘরের টেবিলে একটি রসিকতা আর একটি প্রতিবেদনে একদম স্বাভাবিক। এটিকে বাক্যের সঙ্গে নয়, দলিলের সঙ্গে মেলান।

মিশ্র শর্তবাক্য

মানক শর্তবাক্য দুটি অংশকেই একই সময়সীমায় রাখে। আসল পরিস্থিতি প্রায়ই তা করে না।

• If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now. (অতীতের শর্ত → বর্তমানের ফল)
• If she weren't so busy, she would have come yesterday. (বর্তমানের শর্ত → অতীতের ফল)

দুটোই সঠিক আর কথাবার্তায় সাধারণ, আর দুটোই প্রায়ই সেই শিক্ষার্থীরা এড়ান যারা শুধু তিনটি "প্রকারের" অনুশীলন করেছেন।

জোর দেওয়ার জন্য Cleft বাক্য

• It was the timing that caused the problem, not the budget.
• What surprised me was how quickly they responded.
• All I want is a clear answer.
• The reason it failed was that nobody tested it.

এগুলো তথ্য বদল না করেই জোর বদলায় — সাবলীল, নিয়ন্ত্রিত লেখার একটি চিহ্ন। Fronting একই কাজের একটি হালকা রূপ করে: That I don't accept. · Expensive it certainly was.

ছোট ভুলগুলো যা থেকে যায়

• Fewer বনাম less: গণনাযোগ্যের জন্য fewer (fewer errors), অগণনাযোগ্যের জন্য less (less time)।
• Which বনাম that: অতিরিক্ত তথ্যের জন্য কমাসহ which, সংজ্ঞায়িত তথ্যের জন্য that।
• ঝুলে থাকা participle: Having reviewed the data, the conclusion was obvious. → সিদ্ধান্ত কিছুই পর্যালোচনা করেনি। সংশোধন: Having reviewed the data, we found the conclusion obvious.
• Comprise: পুরোটি অংশগুলোকে comprise করে — The set comprises six items, "is comprised of" নয়।
• Different from / to / than: from সবচেয়ে নিরাপদ; to ব্রিটিশ আর ঠিক; than মার্কিন আর ব্রিটেনে বিতর্কিত।

দুটি অতিরিক্ত-সংশোধন (hypercorrection)

এই স্তরে খুব বেশি সতর্কতা নিজেরই ভুল জন্ম দেয়:

• ❌ between you and I → ✅ between you and me (একটি preposition-এর পরে, object রূপটি সঠিক)
• ❌ He gave it to my colleague and I → ✅ …and me

আর একটি নিয়ম ভুলে যাওয়ার মতো: split infinitive-তে কোনো দোষ নেই। To fully understand মানক ইংরেজি, আর split এড়াতে একে আবার সাজানো সাধারণত বাক্যটিকে আরও খারাপ করে।
