যে Preposition গুলো শিক্ষার্থীদের বিভ্রান্ত করে

Preposition প্রায় কখনোই ভাষার মধ্যে একইভাবে বসে না, তাই এগুলো সরাসরি অনুবাদ করলে এমন ভুল তৈরি হয় যা বছরের পর বছর থেকে যায়। এগুলোই সবার আগে ঠিক করার মতো।

ক্রিয়া + preposition

এই জোড়াগুলো নির্দিষ্ট। এগুলোর কোনো যুক্তি নেই — এগুলোকে একক হিসেবে শিখুন।

সেই ক্রিয়াগুলোয় মনোযোগ দিন যেগুলো ইংরেজিতে কোনো preposition নেয় না, যদিও অনেক ভাষায় নেয়:

• ✅ I'll phone you. ("phone to you" নয়)
• ✅ Let's discuss the budget. ("discuss about" নয়)
• ✅ She entered the room. ("entered in" নয়)
• ✅ I married him. ("married with" নয়)
• ✅ It affects the result. ("affects on" নয়)

বিশেষণ + preposition

• interested in, good at, afraid of, proud of
• responsible for, similar to, different from
• worried about, keen on, aware of, capable of
• married to, famous for, dependent on

She's good at maths and interested in physics.

বিশেষ্য + preposition

বিশেষ্যেরও নিজস্ব নির্দিষ্ট preposition থাকে, আর এগুলো লেখায় ক্রমাগত দেখা যায়।

সময়: in, on, at

preposition	এর জন্য ব্যবহার করুন	উদাহরণ
at	ঘড়ির সময়, রাত	at 6pm, at night
on	দিন ও তারিখ	on Monday, on 5 May
in	মাস, বছর, দীর্ঘ অবধি	in July, in 2026, in the morning

মনে রাখার মতো ব্যতিক্রম: at night, কিন্তু in the morning / afternoon / evening।

যে জোড়াগুলো বিভ্রান্ত করে

• for + অবধি / during + কোনো ঘটনা: for two hours · during the meeting
• by = সেই তারিখের পরে নয় / until = সেই মুহূর্ত পর্যন্ত: Finish it by Friday (ডেডলাইন) · Wait until Friday (পুরো সময়)
• since + শুরুর বিন্দু / from … to একটি অবধির জন্য: since 2016 · from nine to five
• in + ভবিষ্যতের একটি অবধি: I'll be back in ten minutes. ("after ten minutes" নয়)

জায়গা: in, on, at

• in — কিছুর ভেতরে: in the box, in London
• on — কোনো তলের উপর: on the table, on the wall
• at — একটি বিন্দু বা একটি অনুষ্ঠানে: at the bus stop, at the meeting

I'll meet you at the station, on platform 3, in the waiting room.

গতি বনাম অবস্থান

গতির সাধারণত to, into বা onto দরকার; অবস্থান in, at বা on ব্যবহার করে।

• I went to the office. / I was at the office.
• She walked into the room. / She was in the room.

দুটি ক্রিয়া একে ভাঙে: arrive at/in নেয়, কখনো to নয়, আর get to নেয় — I arrived at the airport · I got to the airport।

যাতায়াত

মাধ্যমের জন্য by, নির্দিষ্ট যানের জন্য on / in:

• by car, by train, by bus, by plane — কিন্তু on the train, in the car, আর on foot (কখনো "by foot" নয়)।

এগুলো ব্যাকরণ নয়, শব্দভান্ডার। কোনো নিয়ম depend on বা a solution to বানায় না; preposition শব্দেরই অংশ। পুরো টুকরোটা শিখুন — reason for, শুধু reason নয় — আর ভুল আসা বন্ধ হয়ে যায়।

একটি ছোট কথোপকথনে preposition

A: What time do you arrive in London?

B: At half past six, if the train's on time. I'll wait for you at the barrier.

A: I might be late — it depends on the traffic.

B: No problem. I'll be there until seven anyway.

কোনো শহরে arrive in, একটি ঘড়ির সময়ে at, কোনো মানুষের জন্য wait for, কোনো কিছুতে depend on, পুরো অবধির জন্য until — চার লাইনে পাঁচটি আলাদা জোড়া।
