अंग्रेज़ी में किसी को यह कैसे बताएँ कि कहाँ जाना है और क्या करना है — imperative, साथ ही रास्ते के वे कुछ ज़रूरी शब्द जो आपको असल में चाहिए।
रास्ता बताना अंग्रेज़ी में आपकी पहली असली बातचीतों में से एक है, और यह अपना ही व्याकरण इस्तेमाल करती है: imperative।
Imperative
कर्ता हटाएँ और क्रिया का मूल रूप इस्तेमाल करें।
- Turn left at the lights.
- Go straight on.
- Don't take the first exit. (नकारात्मक: don't + क्रिया)
कोई you नहीं, और कोई to नहीं। यही पूरा रूप है।

चरणों को क्रम में रखना
रास्ता बताना एक क्रम है, और अंग्रेज़ी उस क्रम को ज़ोर से चिह्नित करती है: first, then, after that, when you get to…, finally।
- First go straight on. Then take the second left. When you get to the church, turn right.
कितनी दूर यह बताना
- It's about two hundred metres.
- It's a five-minute walk. (किसी संज्ञा से पहले एकवचन minute पर ध्यान दें)
- It's just around the corner. · It's a fair way — you're better off taking the bus.
- You can't miss it. (यह साफ़ दिख जाएगा — एक बहुत आम अंतिम पंक्ति)
