Karşılaştırma ve Üstünlük Dereceleri: Bigger, Biggest, More Interesting

Karşılaştırma, A2'de yapabileceğiniz en kullanışlı şeylerden biridir, ve İngilizce bunu kelimenin uzunluğuna bağlı olarak iki farklı şekilde yapar. Üstünlük dereceleri de her zaman the alır — o kısım asla değişmez.

Kısa sıfatlar: -er / -est ekleyin

Yazım: kısa bir sesli harften sonra son ünsüzü ikiye katlayın (big → bigger); y, i'ye dönüşür (easy → easier); sessiz bir e sadece -r ekler (nice → nicer).

Uzun sıfatlar: more / most

İki veya daha fazla hece (-y ile bitenler hariç):

• expensive → more expensive → the most expensive
• interesting → more interesting → the most interesting

❌ more cheaper — asla ikisini birden kullanmayın. Biri veya diğeri.

İki heceli orta zemin

Bazı iki heceli sıfatlar her iki biçimi de kabul eder, ve ikisi de doğrudur: -y, -er, -ow, -le ile bitenler.

• clever → cleverer veya more clever
• narrow → narrower veya more narrow
• simple → simpler veya more simple
• quiet → quieter veya more quiet

Başka herhangi bir iki heceli kelimeden emin değilseniz, more daha güvenli seçimdir — asla dilbilgisel olarak yanlış değildir, sadece bazen daha az zariftir.

Zarfları da karşılaştırmak

Zarflar aynı mantığı izler: kısa olanlar -er alır, ve -ly olanlar more alır.

• She runs faster than me. · He works harder than anyone.
• Please speak more slowly. · It happened more quickly than expected.

Well → better ve badly → worse'e dikkat edin: She sings better than I do.

It is the cheapest in the shop. (of the shop değil)

Eşitlik için as … as:

Mine is as good as yours.

It isn't as expensive as I thought.

Farkı derecelendirmek için much / a bit:

It's much better. / It's a bit colder today.

Diğer derecelendiriciler: far, slightly, a lot, no — It's far cheaper. · It's no better than the last one.

Zamanla değişim: -er and -er. The queue is getting longer and longer. · It's becoming more and more difficult.

Bağlantılı değişim: the … the …. The more you practise, the easier it gets. · The sooner, the better.

Üstünlük derecesi + ever. It's the best film I've ever seen. · That was the worst meal we've ever had.

Ve one of the'nin şekline dikkat edin: çoğul bir isim alır. It's one of the biggest cities in Europe. ("one of the biggest city" değil)

A: This one's a bit more expensive, but the camera's much better.

B: Is it? The other one has a bigger screen, and it's one of the lightest they make.

A: True. The more I look at it, the harder it gets to choose.

B: Then take the cheaper one — it isn't as good, but it's good enough.
