- Send me the file.(命令)
- Can you send me the file?(简单说法)
- Could you send me the file?(标准礼貌)
- Would you mind sending me the file?(更礼貌)
- I was wondering if you could send me the file.(非常礼貌/较大的请求)
Would you mind
Would you mind opening the window?(不是 to open)
— Not at all.
— Yes, I would.
Not at all / Of course not / Sure, no problem。
Where is the station? → Could you tell me where the station is?
Does the shop open on Sunday? → Do you know if the shop opens on Sunday?
❌ Could you tell me where is the station? ✅ Could you tell me where the station is?
Could you tell me…、Do you know…、I was wondering…、Would you happen to know…
- I'm afraid we can't do that.
- Unfortunately, the date doesn't work for us.
- That might be a bit difficult.(这往往就是真正的拒绝)
- I'm not sure that's going to work.
a bit 和 slightly 是常用的缓和手段:a bit tight、slightly delayed、a bit of a problem——最后这个短语常常意味着一个相当大的问题。
|---|---|
| That's an interesting idea. |
| I'd have a slight concern about…
| With the greatest respect… |
| It's not ideal. |
| We might want to revisit that.
| I'll bear it in mind. |
| Not bad at all.
| Quite good.
Not bad 是一句夸奖,而 quite good 往往不是。
- This is really solid. My only concern would be the timeline — could we build in a buffer?
- I wonder whether it might be worth checking the figures?
- Might it be an idea to run it past Legal first?
请注意:I wonder whether 和 might it be an idea 并不是真正的问句。
I just wanted to check the deadline.
Could you possibly send it today?
Stop. · Don't touch that.
I need this by two, or we miss the deadline.
I need an ambulance.
I was just wondering if it might possibly be at all feasible for you to perhaps consider sending it.
We might want to revisit that 这句话里藏着一条指示,I'd have a slight concern
A: So we'd launch on the 12th.
B: Right. I'd have a slight concern about the testing window.
A: It's tight, but it's doable.
B: Mm. It's not ideal. Might it be an idea to give ourselves a week's buffer?
A: I'll bear it in mind.
