आफ्नो पढाइ, कामको इतिहास र सिपबारे स्पष्ट रूपमा कसरी कुरा गर्ने — सही कालसहित।
चाहे कुनै अन्तर्वार्तामा होस्, नेटवर्किङको कुराकानीमा होस्, वा पहिलो भेटमा — आफ्नो विगतबारे बताउनु एउटा तय भाग हो। साँचो कठिनाइ शब्दभण्डार होइन — यो कालमाथिको नियन्त्रण हो।
कालका ती नियम जो महत्त्वपूर्ण छन्
Past simple — सकिसकेका जागिर र पढाइ:
- I worked at Siemens for three years. (अब गर्दिनँ)
- I studied economics in Warsaw.
Present perfect — अहिलेसम्मको अनुभव, वा अझै रहेको जागिर:
- I've worked in logistics for five years. (अझै सत्य छ)
- I've managed teams of up to ten people. (अनुभव, कुनै खास समय छैन)
Present simple — तपाईंको हालको भूमिका:
- I work as a project manager.
- I'm responsible for the reporting side.
क्लासिक गल्ती हालको जागिरका लागि past simple प्रयोग गर्नु हो: ❌ I worked here since 2022. → ✅ I've worked here since 2022. नेपालीमा “२०२२ देखि यहाँ काम गर्छु” भनिन्छ, त्यसैले वर्तमान क्रिया राख्ने झुकाव हुन्छ — अंग्रेजीमा present perfect चाहिन्छ।
For र since
- for + एउटा समयावधि: for three years, for six months
- since + एउटा सुरुवात बिन्दु: since 2022, since March

तपाईंले वास्तवमा के हासिल गर्नुभयो बताउने
सबैभन्दा आम कमजोरी व्याकरण होइन — यो नतिजाको सट्टा जिम्मेवारी बताउनु हो। तुलना गर्नुहोस्:

ढाँचा हो: एउटा बलियो क्रिया + तपाईंले के गर्नुभयो + एउटा सङ्ख्या। एउटा अनुमानित सङ्ख्याले पनि वाक्यको प्रभाव बदल्छ।
उपयोगी क्रिया: led, built, cut, improved, launched, introduced, handled, coordinated, trained, resolved।
एउटा छोटो जवाफलाई विस्तारमा बताउने
अन्तर्वार्ता लिनेले प्रायः चार भाग भएको जवाफ चाहन्छन्, एक-पङ्क्तिको होइन:
- परिस्थिति — We had a backlog of about 300 tickets.
- काम — I was asked to get it under control.
- कारबाही — I introduced a triage system and trained two colleagues on it.
- नतिजा — We cleared it in six weeks and it hasn't built up since.
B1 मा पनि यो ढाँचा काम गर्छ, किनभने प्रत्येक भाग एउटा छोटो वाक्य हो।
आफ्नो स्तरबारे इमानदार हुने
बढी दाबी गर्नु चाँडै पक्रिन्छ, र कम दाबी गर्नुले तपाईंलाई जागिर गुमाउन लगाउन सक्छ। अंग्रेजीमा एउटा प्रयोग गर्न सकिने बीचको बाटो छ:
- I'm confident with Excel. (म यसलाई राम्ररी प्रयोग गर्छु)
- I'm familiar with SQL. (म यसलाई पढ्न सक्छु, विशेषज्ञ होइन)
- I've had some exposure to Python. (थोरै-धेरै)
- I'm learning German — I'd say upper-intermediate.

अन्तिम वाक्य जुनसुकै अन्तर्वार्ताको सबैभन्दा उपयोगी वाक्य हो: यसले कमीलाई स्वीकार गर्छ र तुरुन्तै सबैभन्दा नजिकको साँचो कुरा प्रस्तुत गर्छ।
अन्तराल र परिवर्तन
माफी नमागी छोटकरीमा बुझाउनुहोस्:
- I took a year out to travel.
- I was made redundant when the team was restructured. (कुनै दोष लगाइएको छैन)
- I stepped back for family reasons, and I've been freelancing since.
- I wanted to move into something more technical.
एउटा वाक्य पर्याप्त छ। लामो स्पष्टीकरणले सामान्य अन्तरालाई समस्याजस्तो देखाउँछ।
आफ्नो जवाफलाई व्यवस्थित गर्ने
धेरैजसो अन्तर्वार्ता लिनेले आशा गर्छन्: अहिले → त्यसबेला → यहाँ किन।
At the moment I work as a data analyst at a logistics company, where I'm responsible for weekly reporting. Before that, I spent two years in customer support, which is where I first got interested in data. I've been looking for a role with more technical depth, which is why this position appealed to me.
मिश्रणमा ध्यान दिनुहोस्: अहिलेका लागि present simple, सकिसकेका अवधिका लागि past simple, जारी रहने धागोका लागि present perfect।
"Tell me about yourself" कुनै खुला प्रश्न होइन। यसको अर्थ हो: मलाई आफ्नो व्यावसायिक विगतबारे दुई मिनेट बताउनुहोस्, तपाईं यहाँ किन बस्नुभएको छ भन्दै सक्नुहोस्। विश्वविद्यालयबाट सुरु गर्नु, वा तपाईं कहाँ हुर्कनुभयो त्यहाँबाट सुरु गर्नु, अन्तर्वार्ताका पहिलो दुई मिनेट गुमाउने सबैभन्दा आम तरिका हो — यसको सट्टा अहिलेदेखि पछाडितिर काम गर्नुहोस्।

कमजोर: I worked in customer support. I was responsible for answering emails. Then I moved to data. Now I make reports.
बलियो: I'm a data analyst now — I own the weekly reporting for the logistics team. I came to it from customer support, where I was handling about 40 queries a day and started automating the reports nobody had time for. That's what got me into data, and it's why a role with more technical depth appealed to me.
