बाटो र निर्देशन बताउने
अंग्रेजीमा कसैलाई कहाँ जाने र के गर्ने भनी कसरी बताउने — imperative, साथै बाटोका ती केही आवश्यक शब्द जो तपाईंलाई वास्तवमै चाहिन्छन्।
बाटो बताउनु अंग्रेजीमा तपाईंका पहिलो वास्तविक कुराकानीमध्ये एक हो, र यसले आफ्नै व्याकरण प्रयोग गर्छ: imperative।
Imperative
कर्ता हटाउनुहोस् र क्रियाको मूल रूप प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्।
- Turn left at the lights.
- Go straight on.
- Don't take the first exit. (नकारात्मक: don't + क्रिया)
कुनै you छैन, र कुनै to छैन। यही पूरा रूप हो।

चरणहरूलाई क्रममा राख्ने
बाटो बताउनु एउटा क्रम हो, र अंग्रेजीले त्यो क्रमलाई ठूलो स्वरमा चिह्नित गर्छ: first, then, after that, when you get to…, finally।
- First go straight on. Then take the second left. When you get to the church, turn right.
कति टाढा छ भन्ने बताउने
- It's about two hundred metres.
- It's a five-minute walk. (संज्ञाअघि एकवचन minute मा ध्यान दिनुहोस्)
- It's just around the corner. · It's a fair way — you're better off taking the bus.
- You can't miss it. (यो स्पष्ट देखिनेछ — धेरै सामान्य अन्तिम लाइन)

Excuse me बाट सुरु गर्नुहोस्। यसबिना, प्रश्न अचानक जस्तो सुनिन्छ।
निर्देशनलाई नरम पार्ने
बाटो बताउन एकदमै सादा imperative ठीक छ, तर कसैलाई केही गर्न भन्न यो आदेशजस्तो लाग्न सक्छ। आवश्यकताअनुसार तह रोज्नुहोस्। नेपालीमा 'जानुहोस्' जस्तो आदरार्थी रूप आदेश जस्तो लाग्दैन, तर अंग्रेजीमा सादा imperative मा त्यो आदर क्रियाको रूपमा हुँदैन:
