There is və there are: mövcud olanı demək

Nəyinsə mövcud olduğunu demək üçün ingilis dili sabit qəlib işlədir: there is və ya there are. Buradakı there sözü yer mənasını vermir. Sadəcə quruluşun hissəsidir.

Tək və cəm

• There is + bir şey: There is a bank on this street.
• There are + birdən çox: There are two banks on this street.

Fel özündən sonra gələn şeylə uyğunlaşır, there ilə yox.

Azərbaycan dilindən fərq

Azərbaycan dilində mövcudluq var və yox ilə deyilir və onlar sayla dəyişmir: Bir problem var və İki problem var cümlələrində eyni söz işlənir. Üstəlik cümlə yerdən başlayır (Otaqda stol var) və mübtəda yoxdur. İngilis dilində isə:

• fel sayla dəyişir (is / are),
• cümləni there açır və o buraxıla bilməz,
• yer sözü adətən sonda gəlir.

Buna görə üç klassik səhv var:

❌ In the room is a table. (Azərbaycan dilindəki sıra: yer əvvəldə) ❌ Is a bank on this street. (there buraxılıb) ❌ There is three rooms in the flat. (say nəzərə alınmayıb)

Hesab olunmayan isimlər "is" alır

Water, bread, money, time, information və music hesab olunmayandır, ona görə həmişə is alır:

• There is milk in the fridge.
• There is a lot of traffic today.

Suallar və inkarlar

• Is there a pharmacy near here? — Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.
• Are there any tickets left? — No, there aren't.

Suallarda və inkarlarda any, təsdiq cümlələrində some işlədin: There are some chairs.

Miqdar soruşmaq üçün qarşısına how many / how much qoyun:

• How many people are there in your team?
• How much time is there before the train?

Keçmiş zaman

• There was a mistake in the bill.
• There were three people waiting.

Modal əlavə etmək

Qəlib will, might, should, used to sözlərini forma dəyişmədən alır — fel be olaraq qalır.

• There will be a break at eleven.
• There might be a delay.
• There used to be a cinema here.

Danışıqda: there's

There's son dərəcə geniş yayılıb və sərbəst qısaldılır. There're həqiqətən işlədilmir — danışanlar tam there are deyir.

• ✅ There's someone at the door.
• ✅ There are two people at the door. ("there're" yox)

Geniş yayılmış səhvlər

Azərbaycan dilindəki var/yox sayla dəyişmədiyi üçün ən çox rast gəlinən səhv sayı nəzərə almayıb hər yerdə there is işlətməkdir.

❌ There is three rooms in the flat. ✅ There are three rooms in the flat.

Yer sözünü əvvələ çıxarmaq və there buraxmaq da səhvdir:

❌ On the table is a book. ✅ There is a book on the table.

There is qarşı it is — there is nəyisə ilk dəfə təqdim edir; it is artıq məlum şey haqqında danışır. There's a letter for you. It's from the bank.

Siyahı ilə isə fel birinci elementi izləyir:

✅ There is a table and four chairs. ✅ There are four chairs and a table.

B: Two. There used to be three, but the last owner knocked a wall through.
