El vocabulario de pantallas, cuentas y conexiones, incluidos los verbos con los que se describen los fallos.
El vocabulario de la tecnología cambia rápido, pero su núcleo estable cubre casi cualquier situación cotidiana, y los verbos —casi todos compuestos— importan aquí más que los sustantivos.

Conviene distinguir dos palabras: hardware es el objeto físico, software es lo que funciona sobre él. App es un programa de teléfono, program es la palabra más antigua, de «escritorio».

Cuando algo no funciona
- It's not responding.
- It's frozen.
- The app keeps crashing.
- It won't connect. (won't significa que se niega)
- I'm getting an error message.
- Have you tried turning it off and on again?
«It won't start» es la forma natural de decir que un dispositivo se niega a funcionar: aquí won't significa negativa, no futuro.
Cómo describir un problema con precisión
Impreciso: It doesn't work. Mejor: It turns on, but the screen stays black.
Decir qué funciona es la forma más rápida de acotar el problema, y en una conversación técnica es la diferencia entre un mensaje útil y uno inútil.
Tres preguntas a las que se reduce cualquier conversación con soporte técnico:
- What exactly happens? — It shows an error message saying "connection refused".
- When did it start? — After the update on Tuesday.
- What have you tried? — I've restarted it and reinstalled the app.
Comunique lo que observa, no su diagnóstico. The Wi-Fi's broken es un diagnóstico, y normalmente incorrecto. My laptop connects but my phone doesn't es una observación, y señala directamente la causa real.
Llamada a soporte técnico
A: What seems to be the trouble?
B: The app keeps crashing when I try to log in. It started after the update.
A: Have you tried reinstalling it?
B: I have. It opens fine, but it freezes on the password screen.
A: Right — sorry, you're breaking up a bit. Could you send me a screenshot of the error message?
