लुगा र किनमेल

लुगाको शब्दावली र मुठ्ठीभर पसलका वाक्यांशले अंग्रेजीमा तपाईंसामु आउने सबैभन्दा सामान्य वास्तविक अवस्थामध्ये एकलाई समेट्छन्।

लुगा

माथिल्लो: shirt, T-shirt, blouse, jumper (US: sweater), jacket, coat तल्लो: trousers (US: pants), jeans, shorts, skirt, dress खुट्टा: shoes, boots, trainers (US: sneakers), socks थप: hat, scarf, gloves, belt, tie, bag

सावधानी: बेलायती अंग्रेजीमा pants को अर्थ अन्डरवियर हो, र अमेरिकी अंग्रेजीमा trousers। नेपालीमा 'पाइन्ट' ले trousers नै बुझाउँछ, त्यसैले अमेरिकी pants सजिलो लाग्छ। सन्दर्भले प्रायः बचाउँछ, तर यो जान्नु काम लाग्छ।

दुवै सबैतिर बुझिन्छन्; एउटा देशको सेट रोज्नुहोस् र त्यसैमा टिक्नुहोस्।

सधैँ बहुवचन

trousers, jeans, shorts, glasses, tights को एकवचन हुँदैन। a pair of प्रयोग गर्नुहोस्:

I bought a pair of jeans. ("a jean" होइन)

These trousers are too big. ("is" होइन)

Wear, put on, try on, fit, suit

यी पाँचै एकअर्काको ठाउँमा प्रयोग हुँदैनन्। नेपालीमा 'लगाउनु' ले wear र put on दुवै बुझाउँछ, त्यसैले अंग्रेजीमा तिनलाई छुट्याउनुपर्छ:

• wear — लगाएको हुनु: She's wearing a blue coat.
• put on — लगाउने क्रिया: Put on your shoes.
• try on — पसलमा प्रयास गर्नु: Can I try this on?
• fit — सही साइज हुनु: It doesn't fit — it's too small.
• suit — तपाईंलाई राम्रो देखिनु: That colour really suits you.

Fit साइजबारे हो; suit रूप-रङ्ग बारे हो। यी दुईलाई मिसाउनु क्लासिक गल्ती हो।

जोड्न लायक अरू दुई: go with (अर्को चीजसँग मेल खानु) — Those shoes go with your jacket — र अवसरअनुसार dress up / dress down।

साइज र सामग्री

• small, medium, large — प्रायः S, M, L लेखिन्छ
• What size are you? — I'm a medium. · I take a 40.
• लुगा र जुत्ताका नम्बर देशअनुसार फरक हुन्छन्: Is that UK or European sizing?
• सामग्री: cotton, wool, leather, denim, silk — a cotton shirt, leather boots

पसलमा

• I'm just looking, thanks. (पसलेले नजिक आउँदा)
• Do you have this in a medium?
• Have you got these in a size 40?
• Where are the fitting rooms?
• Can I try this on?
• It's too tight / too loose / too long.
• Do you have a bigger one?
• I'll take it.
• Can I pay by card?

मूल्य र सेल

• Is this on sale? · It's reduced. · It's half price.
• That's a bargain. (धेरै राम्रो मूल्यमा) · That's a rip-off. (धेरै महँगो)
• It's 20% off. · Is there a discount?

केही फिर्ता गर्ने

• I'd like to return this, please.
• It doesn't fit. / It's faulty.
• Do you have the receipt?
• Can I get a refund or an exchange?

Refund = तपाईंको पैसा फिर्ता। Exchange = यसको सट्टा अर्को चीज।

"I'm just looking, thanks" पहिले सिक्न लायक वाक्यांश हो। बेलायती र अमेरिकी पसलमा एक मिनेटभित्र कुनै पसले नजिक आउँछन्, र यो सहयोगलाई शिष्टतासाथ अस्वीकार गर्ने मानक, पूर्ण रूपमा शिष्ट तरिका हो। यसबिना, सिक्नेहरूलाई प्रायः आफूले निस्किनुपर्छ जस्तो लाग्छ।

B: I'm just looking, thanks. Actually — have you got this in a large?

A: I'll check. The fitting rooms are just over there.

B: Thanks. Hmm — it fits, but I'm not sure it suits me.

A: It's reduced, if that helps. And you can return it within 30 days with the receipt.
