By accessing or using English.Guru (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
English.Guru provides free English-language learning content, quizzes, and an AI-assisted individual learning plan tool. The Service is provided for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute professional language certification or academic advice.
You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial learning purposes. You agree not to misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, or use automated means to scrape or overload it.
The Service does not require an account for lessons, quizzes or the learning plan. Once you finish a lesson, a quiz or the level test, your browser records that progress and gives it a randomly generated identifier so the Service can show it back to you on your progress page. This record lives in the browser you used and is not an account; it does not follow you to another device or browser and is lost if you clear your browsing data. An account — with an email address and a password, or with Google — is needed only to join and run clubs and is described in our Privacy Policy.
Some features (such as expressing interest in paid support or tutoring) may ask for an email address. You are responsible for providing accurate information.
All articles, quizzes, and other content on English.Guru are owned by English.Guru or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or redistribute this content beyond personal use without permission.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the content is error-free or that any learning plan will achieve a particular result.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, English.Guru is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Clubs are groups of members who practise English together. A member who is 16 or older and has confirmed their email address can apply to create a club; the site’s administrator approves it before it becomes public. Clubs are free: no club may charge for membership or for anything else on this site.
What you write in a club, and your nickname, can be seen by other people as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not post anything unlawful, abusive or misleading, other people’s private information, or advertising. You are responsible for what you write. Managers can remove and ban members from their club, and the administrator can suspend an account or archive a club that breaks these rules.
Managers run their clubs voluntarily. English.Guru does not supervise any arrangement that members make with each other and is not responsible for it; use your own judgement when you contact or meet other members. City names come from GeoNames (geonames.org), licensed under CC BY 4.0.
Clubs can hold events, online or in person. In-person events are for people who are 18 or older: you confirm this once, when you first sign up for one. English.Guru does not organise or supervise any event; the club’s managers do. Meet in a public place, tell someone where you are going, and never share your home address. The exact address and the meeting link are for the members who signed up: do not pass them on. You can withdraw from an event at any time.
Each public club has a discussion that anyone can read, and search engines may index it. Write plain text; links are allowed once a few of your posts and comments stand. By posting you let English.Guru show what you write in that club. You can edit and delete your own posts and comments. Managers can delete, pin and lock posts in their club, and a post or comment reported by three members is held back until the administrator has read it. Do not post spam, advertising, hateful content or other people’s private information: the administrator may delete such content and suspend the account.
Clubs that nobody has written in or held an event in for 90 days are listed only on request; after 180 days, and an email to their managers 14 days before, they are archived: readable, with no new writing. Moderators and managers of the site’s own clubs are volunteers chosen by the administrator from those who apply. They receive nothing for it, they can step down at any time, and a role that has not been used for 30 days is withdrawn after a warning and a further 14 days.
