سفر کی انگریزی: ہوائی اڈے، ہوٹل اور راستے

سفر کی انگریزی مختصر اور دہرائی جانے والی ہے۔ چند درجن الفاظ اور فقرے تقریباً ہر صورتِ حال کا احاطہ کر لیتے ہیں۔

ہوائی اڈے پر

کلیدی الفاظ: departures, arrivals, gate, boarding pass, check-in, luggage / baggage, delayed, cancelled

• Where is the check-in desk?
• Is the flight on time? — No, it's delayed.
• Which gate is it?
• I'd like a window seat, please.

سیکیورٹی چیک اور پاسپورٹ کنٹرول

یہیں آپ سے سیدھے سوال پوچھے جاتے ہیں، اور جواب مختصر ہوتے ہیں:

آپ سنیں گے	آپ کہیں گے
Anything to declare?	No, nothing.
What's the purpose of your visit?	Tourism. / Business.
How long are you staying?	Ten days.
Where are you staying?	At a hotel in the centre.
Any liquids or laptops?	Just a laptop.

بورڈ پر نظر آنے والے باقی الفاظ: security, passport control, customs, baggage reclaim, transfer, boarding۔

ہوٹل میں

کلیدی الفاظ: reservation, single / double room, key card, check-in, check-out, floor

• I have a reservation under the name Petrov.
• What time is check-out?
• Is breakfast included?

Included اچھی طرح سیکھنے کے لائق ہے — یہی طے کرتا ہے کہ آپ کو اضافی ادائیگی کرنی ہے یا نہیں۔

جب کمرہ ٹھیک نہ ہو

• Sorry, the wifi isn't working.
• The room is very noisy — could I change rooms?
• The air conditioning doesn't work.
• Could I have a late check-out?
• Could you keep my luggage until this evening?

راستہ پوچھنا

• Excuse me, how do I get to the museum?
• Is it far? — No, about ten minutes on foot.

پوچھنے سے زیادہ جواب سمجھنا اہم ہے:

فقرہ	مطلب
go straight on	سیدھے آگے جائیں
turn left / right	سمت بدلیں
take the second right	دائیں طرف دوسرا موڑ لیں
it's on your left	آپ کو یہ اس طرف نظر آئے گا
opposite the bank	بینک کے سامنے
next to the station	اسٹیشن کے برابر میں

اردو میں بھی ہم «سیدھے جائیے، دوسرا موڑ دائیں ہاتھ»، «بینک کے سامنے» کہتے ہیں، اس لیے خیال مانوس ہے — بس انگریزی میں ترتیب الٹی ہے: take the second right میں پہلے فعل اور آخر میں سمت آتی ہے۔

عوامی ٹرانسپورٹ

کلیدی الفاظ: single / return ticket, platform, timetable, change (trains)

• A return ticket to Oxford, please.
• Which platform?
• Do I need to change?

دھیان دیں: single = ایک طرف کا، return = آنے جانے کا۔

پیسے

• Where's the nearest cash machine? (امریکہ میں: ATM)
• Do you take card?
• Could I have the receipt, please?
• Is there a charge for that?

جب کچھ گڑبڑ ہو جائے

• I've lost my luggage.
• My flight was cancelled.
• I think I'm lost.
• Could you help me, please?

اور جب آپ نہ سمجھ پائیں

یہ چار فقرے کسی بھی لغت سے زیادہ کام کے ہیں، کیونکہ یہ آپ کو ایک اور موقع دلاتے ہیں:

• Sorry, could you say that again?
• Could you speak a bit more slowly, please?
• Could you write it down?
• Do you speak English? — اور اگر نہیں، تو اشاروں اور اعداد کا استعمال کریں۔

کسی کو بھی پورے جملے کی توقع نہیں ہوتی۔ Two tickets, please · Where's the gate? · Is breakfast included? سفر کی انگریزی مختصر، طے شدہ فقروں پر چلتی ہے، اور انہیں استعمال کرنا روکھا نہیں ہے — یہی تو آپ کے پیچھے قطار میں کھڑا ہر کوئی کر رہا ہے۔

مسئلے کے ساتھ چیک اِن کرنا

A: Good evening — I've got a reservation under Petrov.

B: Two nights, double room. Here's your key card, room 304.

A: Thanks. Is breakfast included?

B: It is, seven till ten. Check-out's at eleven.

A: Sorry, could you say that again? Eleven?
